Originle FAQ

Short answers about the daily guess-the-country puzzle. For rules, see How to Play.

What is Originle?

Originle is a free daily guess-the-country game. You read an original fictional guest story and try to name their country in three guesses.

Is Originle free?

Yes. The daily puzzle and Unlimited practice mode are free in your browser. No account is required.

How many guesses do I get?

Each round allows up to three guesses. If you have not found the country after three tries, the answer is revealed.

What time does the daily puzzle change?

The puzzle uses the UTC calendar date. A new mystery guest appears at UTC midnight for everyone.

What do green and yellow mean?

Green means you guessed the correct country. Yellow means your guess is on the same continent. Gray means a miss.

Is Originle the same as Globle?

No. Globle-style games ask you to click a world map. Originle is story-first: you read a guest blurb and type a country name.

Are you affiliated with originle.io or originle.com?

No. Originle Game (originlegame.org) is independent. We are not affiliated with originle.io or Originle Forenames (originle.com). Guest stories are original fiction written for this site.

Can I play more than one puzzle per day?

Daily mode is one shared puzzle per UTC day. Use Unlimited anytime for extra random guests.

Does Originle save my streak?

Yes. A streak counter is stored in your browser’s local storage for daily wins. Clearing site data resets it.
